NADIMARG, JAMMU-KASHMIR, INDIA – The depths and depravity of terrorists never ceases to sadden us.
The Kashmir area of South Asia has long been an area of contention. This was the region that was disputed between the newly-formed nations of India and Pakistan which came out of the ex British Raj. Neither country seems willing to cede on the issue. India is of course predominantly Hindu whereas Pakistan is predominantly Muslim.
Both sides have undertaken atrocities. Hindus have killed Muslims and Muslims have killed Hindus. Today’s featured attack is the latter.
On this day in 2003
Muslim terrorists shot dead 24 Hindus in Kashmir: 11 men, 11 women and 2 children were reported killed. They were all described as pandits, those specialising in Hinduism. The terrorists had first stolen guns and uniforms from Indian police and hence appeared in disguise.
They first snatched the policemen’s weapons and later fired indiscriminately on the Pandits. The police has recovered 24 bodies so far.

None of this is surprising. Terrorists often target those of a different faith. But killing children? What sense or justification is in any of that?
