Canadian Intelligence Eh!

What is it like to be a national security advisor?

Busy people need help understanding the torrent of information sent to them, including intelligence. That is where a national security advisor comes in.

Episode 191 – Making sure our leaders are up on the latest intelligence is very important.

Politicians are very busy people. Not only are they responsible for the day-to-day operation of government, but they have ridings (constituencies) to care for. They cannot keep up with everything. Furthermore, few have any background in intelligence and thus may have no idea what to make of the information provided by the nation’s ‘spies’. That is where a national security advisor (NSA) comes in. Borealis talks with former Canadian NSA Daniel Jean about the challenges of the job.

About my guest

Daniel Jean was the National Security Advisor to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau from May 2016 until May 2018.
