There is an old saying in journalism: “If it bleeds, it leads”. This refers to the tendency to feature news items that are negative in nature. Those articles lead us to believe that things are bad and getting worse. But are we really going to hell in a handbasket? Is terrorism that bad? Maybe not, and that also applies to terrorist trends.
