June 3, 2017: Suicide bombers detonate at Afghan funeral

On June 3, 2017 suicide bombers killed at least seven people at a funeral in the Afghan capital, Kabul, and wounded another 100.

KABUL, AFGHANISTAN – I know that terrorists do not have a soul, but attacking a funeral?

Funerals are tough.

I’ve been to a few, including those of family members and others who meant a lot to me. I’ve even given a few eulogies in my time and those were especially trying.

Those that gather to remember the dearly departed are going through a tonne of emotions: loss, sadness, nostalgia, anxiety over the future, etc. It is a difficult time to say the least.

What about having a terrorist attack to contend with as well?

On this day in 2017

Suicide bombers killed at least seven people at a funeral in the Afghan capital, Kabul, and wounded another 100. The mourners were there to remember a man who had died along with five others when police fired on a march against deteriorating security.

A few minutes later, there was another explosion. I saw a lot of people on the ground covered with blood. People were blown to pieces.

Eyewitness statements

Three suicide bombers were among the mourners attending the funeral. Who sends suicide bombers to a funeral?? The Taliban said they were not behind the atrocity.

Given the depths to which these terrorists have stooped before, I would not put this act past them.
