MONKAYO, PHILIPPINES – Most people have an idea what they want in life and don’t need terrorists to tell them.
Of all the nations in the world North Korea has to be one of the strangest. Officially the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) it is amusing that the only accurate word in that name is ‘of’. The DPRK is neither ‘democratic‘, nor ‘people’s’ (no one had a say in its formation), nor a ‘republic‘, and certainly has no monopoly on ‘Korea‘ (the real democracy on the Korean Peninsula, what is known as South Korea, would not be happy to cede the title to the weirdos up north).
It is interesting that many polities and parties that are communist or heavily socialist in nature have a tendency to claim that they represent the ‘people’. Oddly, the ‘people’ rarely run the show and were never consulted on what form of government they wanted at the outset. Yet these leaders still act as if they know better.
Over history a number of terrorist groups have been of the communist ilk. And few if any of them act on behalf of the ‘people’.
On this day in 2018
11 Philippines’ soldiers were wounded when a bunch of New People’s Army (NPA) terrorists ambushed them in Monkayo, in the southeastern part of the archipelago. The soldiers were on patrol because of NPA activity, including the laying of landmines.
We are grateful for the people’s support in this campaign of ending CPP’s 50th year of deception and murder of innocents…. With our joint effort, both military and civilian communities, terrorist-communist atrocities will not prosper.
10th ID commander Brigadier General Jose Faustino
So, let’s get this straight. The NPA lays landmines that could, and probably have, injure innocent civilians, i.e. the very ‘people’ they claim to be fighting for. Yep, that clarifies a lot of things, doesn’t it?
