QUITO, ECUADOR – There is an old saying: kill the messenger”. Terrorists are listening.
Have you ever gotten news you didn’t like or were not expecting? What did you do with that news? Did you get upset? Did you scream and pull a tantrum? Did you blame the person or media outlet that gave you the news?
We all have to deal with information that goes against what we think is the proper way of the world, at least through our eyes. We have to consider what we have been told, take some time to really think about it, and come up with a rational reaction. Yelling at the source is seldom a good idea, as the deliverer can rarely do anything to change the situation.
Or you can try to kill them.
On this day in 2009
Two pamphlet-bombs exploded outside the buildings of a TV channel and the Ecuadorian Education Ministry in Quito. Luckily, there were no victims or significant damage. Fliers left behind were anti-government in nature.
We wish to announce, once again, that despite all the threats, attacks and incomprehension, the channel will not change by any means it decision of continuing being an independent channel from the political power, to inform without fear, with objectivity, pluralism and opening.”
