We must listen more to the victims of terrorism

Why is it that the victims of terrorism seem to disappear from our attention in the immediate aftermath of an attack: do the terrorists themselves deserve our fascination?

In the immediate aftermath of a terrorist attack we all want to know about the terrorists: who were they, where did they come from, why did they do what they did? Why were they successful (i.e. why weren’t the security intelligence and law enforcement agencies able to stop it)? Very few give much thought to the victims. Why not? Borealis argues that those who suffered deserve more coverage than the terrorists who carried out the violence.
