Why do some countries not suffer from terrorist attacks?

We certainly live in a world where violence dominates the headlines. Whether we are talking about war proper – Sudan, Gaza, Ukraine – garden variety criminal acts or terrorism, there is a lot of killing going on? If we narrow the conversation to terrorism we see that some countries suffer more than others and a few experience next to no terrorism at all – why?
