March 26, 2012: Mortar attack hits civilian camp in Somalia

On March 26, 2012 at least two people were killed and 8 others wounded by mortar rounds fired by Somali terrorist group al Shabaab

MOGADISHU, SOMALIA – Ordinary people should NOT be made to pay – with their lives – for disillusionment over governments.

Democracy is a funny thing, isn’t it? The ‘worst form of government…except for all the others‘ said former UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill once but the best we as humans have done so far. Right?

Democracy may not be perfect, but at least we can choose whom we want to lord it over us. Other systems – monarchies, dictatorships, etc. – do not offer this option. We’ll take it!

I’d vote for me if I were you…or else! (Photo: By Unknown author, Public Domain, Wikimedia Commons)

Nevertheless there are those who seek to change duly elected governments in, shall we say, more violent ways.

On this day in 2012

At least two people were killed and 8 others wounded by mortar rounds fired by Somali terrorist group al Shabaab towards the presidential palace but which landed on a nearby camp for the internally displaced.

A mortar landed on our camp – a father and his son died. Eight others including three women were injured.

Survivor

It should come as a surprise to a grand total of no one that terrorists ain’t democrats. Still, killing the very people you claim you are here to ‘protect’ doesn’t come off well, does it? Are you listening, jihadis?
