JERUSALEM, ISRAEL – There are times where terrorist attacks miraculously result in no deaths.
Guns are interesting inventions, aren’t they? Some have very utilitarian purposes: hunting rifles for instance. If, say, you want to hunt and bring down a deer a gun is a good way of doing so. Yes, yes, there are bow hunters as well but I’d wager most hunters would prefer a bullet to an arrow.
The bottom line is that guns were and are designed to kill. Full stop. Ammunition does nasty things to human bodies once it enters – things like shredding organs and disintegrating blood vessels. All of which can lead to horrific deaths.
Which makes it all the more surprising when massive firepower in the hands of terrorists results in no deaths on occasion!
On this day in 1984
Islamist terrorists opened up fire with machine guns in a mall in Jerusalem, wounding 48 people but somehow killing none. Sorry, scratch that. Storekeepers and pedestrians pulled pistols, chased one of the terrorists and fatally wounded him: the two others were caught by Israeli officials. The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) took responsibility for the attack.
This is different from any other incident.Jerusalem district police chief Rahamim Comfort
How in heaven’s name did no civilians die in the hail of bullets? Or did ‘heaven’ play any role at all given that jihadis think they are acting in the name of their deity and are convinced they will get to their version of heaven when they die?
